A Good Resource

Wow, ladies! As I've been searching the web to compile some good resources for all of us to use, I stumbled across this site. (H/T Mike....thanks!) A must read, especially today's devotional! Enjoy!

  1. By the way, here is the Amy Carmichael website. Elizabeth Eliot refers to Amy...thought you might like to read a little bit about her.

  2. Hello All!
I thought that Elizabeth Elliot's daily devotional on "moonless seas" was fantastic!
Here are some points she made that stood out to me the most:

    (1) "All along, let us remember, we are not asked to understand, but simply to obey"
    -Amy Carmichael

*This is so true! How often do I try to understand exactly how everything fits together and how it will all turn out when in reality all God wants is my obedience...not my trying to figure Him out.

    (2) "And only Heaven is better than to walk with Christ at midnight, over moonless seas"

*This thought really got me going.
When everything is confusing and I really have no clue what is going to happen, that is when my walk with God should be closest and at its very best...because I am relying wholeheartily on Him and NOT on myself.

    (3) "He is El Shaddai, 'The God who is Enough'"

*God should be enough for my every need. I should be satisfied in him all the time...even when I seem to be questioning where life is taking me.

(4)"He is not all we would ask for (if we were honest), but it is precisely when we do not have what we would ask for, and only then, that we can clearly perceive His all-sufficiency. It is when the sea is moonless that the Lord has become my light."

    ***This is AWESOME!
I love the idea that when we do not have what we ask for (being a relationship, opportunity, or material possession) that is when God gives us the chance to be all satisfied with him and allow him to light our moonless seas!!!

  3. Evelyn, I loved all the same things about this article that you mention. Particularly, the quote by Amy Carmichael:

"All along, let us remember, we are not asked to understand, but simply to obey"
    -Amy Carmichael

That sums up so many things God has taught me through my lifetime in my journey with Him. We should probably continue talking about this as we go :)
